Is CoolSculpting a replacement for liposuction?
CoolSculpting is not a replacement for liposuction or other surgical fat reducing procedures. Studies indicate that the typical amount of fat lost through CoolSculpting™ varies between patients but is typically around 20-25%. CoolSculpting is best for those who are already close to their ideal body weight but have small isolated areas of fat such as “love handles” or “muffin top” that they cannot lose through diet and exercise. Results with CoolSculpting take about 2-4 months to be fully realized. The results will not be as dramatic as with liposuction. Our new treatment protocol for CoolSculpting is called Treatment to Transformation. This treatment protocol involves looking at the entire body and developing a comprehensive treatment plan with CoolSculpting. Often this involves 6-8 CoolSculpting sessions with various hand pieces for better coverage. Some results with the treatment to transformation program have achieved results rivaling liposuction.
Is anesthesia required for CoolSculpting treatment?
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure, so needles, surgical incisions, and anesthesia won’t be necessary.
Who is a good candidate for CoolSculpting™?
The ideal candidate for CoolSculpting are men and women who are close to their ideal body weight with small areas of fat they wish to lose that are resistant to diet and exercise. These are typically individuals who are not surgical candidates or those who opt not to have cosmetic surgery procedures. Patients who are emotionally stable and fully understand what CoolSculpting can and cannot accomplish will be the happiest with their results.
Is there downtime after CoolSculpting?
After the CoolSculpting procedure, patients resume normal their activities the same day.
When can I expect to see the effects of CoolSculpting?
After just 3-4 weeks, most patients begin to see results. After 3 months you’ll see the most dramatic improvement. Through your body’s natural metabolic processes, the fat cells in the treated area are gradually eliminated.
Do you offer other non-surgical fat reduction devices in addition to CoolSculpting?
The Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery was the first plastic surgery office in Michigan to offer CoolSculpting to our patients in 2010. Since that time, we have upgraded to CoolSculpting Ultra which offers additional sizes of applicators which can be used treat the thigh and smaller areas of the body more effectively. It is also faster than the previous generation of CoolSculpting devices.
In addition, we offer BTL VanquishME, which is effective at treating a larger area of the body at one time than is possible with CoolSculpting. Patients of all sizes are able to use VanquishME to help reduce generalized fat around the abdomen. Vanquish is a non-invasive, radio frequency device that heats tissue and reduces fat in targeted treatment area. This device is able to destroy about 60% of the fat in the targeted area and contour the body without surgery and with no down time.
The latest addition to our body contouring line up is BTL Emsculpt. Emsculpt is the world’s first device to not only reduce fat, but also build muscle. Dr. Ringler at the Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery in Michigan to offer Emsculpt to patients.
Emsculpt uses two panels to deliver HIFEM magnetic field technology—it penetrates through your skin to impact fat as well as muscle tissues. Once penetrated, the energy induces approximately 20,000 supramaximal muscle contractions per session, which are normally not achieved by voluntary muscle action. The contractions result in a rapid metabolic reaction in fat cells, to provide energy to the muscle, while it strengthens and builds muscle. This is the only technology that destroys fat while simultaneously building muscle, all while leaving the surrounding tissues unaffected. Emsculpt can be used on abdomen or glutteal area to strengthen muscles in those areas.
